Sierra Leone News: SAFE-SL Donates School Materials

Sisters in Action for Empowerment (SAFE-SL) on Wednesday February 6, 2019, donated school materials to two primary schools in Kroo Bay community in Freetown.
The donation was made with funds from the SAFE branch in United State of America. The donation which was made to Kroo Bay Community Primary School and We Yone Child Foundation Primary School include school bags, books, pencils, pens, school registers, among others.
The President of SAFE-SL, Massah Kamara said that purpose of the donation is to assist the government in its strides to achieve the flagship free quality education programme. “To achieve free quality education, development partners and charitable organizations should complement the effect of the government by providing essential learning materials for the pupils and the school as a whole,” she said. “This is why our organization has step up to provide these materials for schools in the slum community.”
She said, “Members of the organisation have as an objective solid support for Sierra Leoneans.” She said that the members in the diaspora have determined to support Sierra Leoneans.
The president said that SAFE-SL facilitated the distribution of the donation to the various school authorities. SAFE-SL in Freetown is the parent body of the organization. She said that they will ensure that the pupils get adequate education to enable them become future leaders.
The Head Teacher of Kroo Bay Community Primary School, Mr Abdul Bundu Kamara said that he is very happy for the donation. He disclosed that he was surprised when SAFE-SL told him that they have a donation to make to his school. “This donation package is a very good help to the parents more especially when most of the children have spoilt their bags and other materials,” he said. He encouraged the children to take good care of the materials. “Education is the key to success. Supporting children with learning materials means that you are helping them to become future leaders,” he said.
