An honorary member of the main opposition All People’s Congress (APC) party, Vandy Konneh on Friday February 1, 2019, cautioned party executive to restrain from using the party to fuel tribal tension in the country.

Dr Konneh, who joined the APC party in 1995, made this comment following the reaction of the party national executives towards the Commission of Inquiry (COI).

“I have observed with grave dismay that some individuals within the APC party are misusing the party to promote their defense in relation to the COI,” he said. “Let it be known to all and sundry, and more so to the well meaning APC party supporters that the Party has no direct responsibility to individuals who may have stolen state money.”

He emphasized, “You are therefore cautioned to deny and refuse anyone who may want to use you in the name of the Party to create and cause national unrest. Be it known to all that any skewed mechanism of this nature may have negative consequences to us all, regardless your region or tribe.”

“In view of the foregoing, I am looking at the possibility of pitching a judicial challenge on their current purported Executive, bearing in mind their conduct in the last Convention held at Makeni. The object here is to secure an injunction on the Executives, and to restrain them from using the Party to fuel tribal rhetoric and tension,” he said.

He warned, “You have no reason to use the party as a platform to obstruct national justice and peace! Be cautioned.”

He believed that the COI must go on and must be fair since is about a national precedent against gross corruption that has failed this nation..”
