Sierra Leone: CKC Class of 2006 Awards 7 Best Performing Teachers
The Old boys of Christ the King College (CKC) Class of 2006 on Friday November 18, 2022 Awarded seven teachers for their outstanding commitment to teaching students particularly those in public examination classes.
The Award ceremony which took place during a dinner and awards night, at Cool and Cozy Entertainment Complex along Tikonko Road in Bo attracted teachers, Members of Class of 2006, and COBA National, among others.
The teachers were selected based on how the students performed in their subjects during last academic year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
The Awardees include four Junior Secondary School (JSS) teachers, and three Senior Secondary School (SSS) teachers. The awardees for JSS and their subject areas are: Lawrence A. Campbell- French teacher; Abu B. Kallay-Integrated Science, Austin U. Wusay- Social Studies, and Christopher Kandeh- Social Studies.
The awardees of SSS and their subject areas are: David M. Abou- Biology teacher, Brima Swaray- Government teacher, and. Abibu Allieu Jr.-Financial Accounting teacher.
Giving the purpose for the awards, Chairman for class of 2006, Abraham Makaya said. past pupils of Christ the King College also. went through the challenges current pupils and teachers are facing now. He added that. through persiverance, they were abled to get education. He disclosed that they decided to come together and give back to their school by awarding teachers in the school especially teachers whose. subjects. pupils did well in the last West Africa Senior Secondary Certificate (WASSCE) and the Basic Education Certificate Examination ( BECE).
Abraham Makaya said they are young people who do not have much, but it is their responsibility to make CKC great always.

Dominic Boima, said as a class of 2006, they’re doing well to ensure pupils and teachers of CKC. feel belonged. He said that Class of 2006 has done extremely well since they formed the group three years ago. Dominic Boima said the dinner and awards were geared towards bringing. teachers and past pupils together. As a class of 2006, he said. they believed in paying back to their teachers who impacted knowledge in them. Dominic Boima said that during the Coronavirus Pandemic class of 2006 donated food and non food items to support. past teachers during those difficult times. He informed the gathering that class of 2006 has embarked on other developmental activities at CKC.
On behalf of the COBA national executive, Mohamed Conteh known as Prime, congratulated class of 2006 for the work they’re doing to develop the school. He said. the administration is talking good things about class of 2006. He encouraged them to continue paying back to Christ the King College and also contribute to the development of the country.
Lawrence Campbell on behalf of his colleague teachers thanked class of 2006 , for the thought to award teachers in the Institution. He said he has spent 22 years. teaching at CKC, but class of 2006, had motivated him and others to do more. He concluded that he has not regretted teaching as students he has taught many years ago recognized his service and others. He said they’ll remain grateful to class of 2006 at CKC.
