The management of Excel Daycare, Nursery and Primary School, on Wednesday February 20, 2019, donated one Freezer and a chaque of Le 3 million to the Cheshire Home at the P.C Komrabai H.E Peter Penfold Children Playing Ground at Family Kingdom in Freetown.
The donation was received by the former British High Commission to Sierra Leone, Peter Penfold, who handed over the donation to the management of the Cheshire Home. The children of Excel Daycare, and Primary School were very happy for their interaction with the Home.
The Board Chairperson of Excel Daycare and Primary School, Mrs. Zoral Anthony said that the children were here on Valentine’s Day to share their love for the children in the home.
“We are here today to share the love from Excel,” she added. “We have made it a tradition that the children provide some love to other. The children of Excel have contributed towards providing some love to other children. So, the daycare has contributed tremendously to their friends and love ones at Cheshire Home,” she said. “Last year, we visited the home and we even gave them some gifts. This year, we have decided to do something different. We find out what Cheshire Home needed, that is why we decided to donate this freezer and a chaque of Le3 million.”
She added, “We want our children to understand what it means to be inclusive and this is the reason why we continue to contribute towards Cheshire home. We wish this partnership will continue.”
She said that the staff and children of the school contributed financially just to ensure that they make a donation to the home.
The Proprietor of Excel Daycare and Primary School, Mrs. Onike King said that education is the right of every child. “It doesn’t matter whether you are in the wheelchair, blind, deaf or not, and it should be inclusive.”
She added that education should go alone with love. “Love has to be shown to those who normally love is not shown to,” she said.
She thanked the parents of the children of Excel Daycare and Primary School for making this happen. “We can be a part to bring smiles to the children in Cheshire Home,” she said. “We know what we have contributed today will go a long way to make the lives of Cheshire Home children comfortable.”
Former British High Commissioner to Sierra Leone, Peter Penfold said, “I am very grateful to see what is happening today. It is very important to the future of Sierra Leone if everybody come together to help one another. That is why it is very inspiring to see a school like Excel help others. Not just thinking about self but for others. It is very important for us to come together and help others in the country.”
The Chairman of the Cheshire Home, Dr. Abdulai Dumbuya said that the donation means a lot to them. “We admire Excel a lot because it is a school which has been established not too long ago for the milestone that they have reached.”
“As you all know, the Cheshire has been in existence for 57 years now. It is a residential home for children with disability,” Dr Dumbuya said. “I grow up in this home.”
He said that they will use the freezer to store their food stuffs like chickens and fish, among others.
Blessing Kallon is one of the children living in Cheshire Home. She thanked Excel for such support and the social interaction platform that Excel Daycare is creating for them.
